Hamish McIntyre

TeamJackal would be as nothing without the sheer grit and determination of its Bowman, Hamish. A stylish young chap, Hamish relies on a rather spiky haircut and dark shades to impress other competitors out on the water. Dashing around the foredeck, while others watch in awe, he displays great balancing skill as he sorts out the spinnaker halyard, adjusts cunningham and outhaul and hikes out protecting the rest of the crew from the odd splashy wave. Hamish can set the bitch like greased lightning, he's an expert at losing his sunglasses over the side in the heat of the moment, and never wears a cap for just that reason. Fit, young and athletic, Hamish was the team's last remaing hope at pulling the 'race-chicks', until he actually did. But now we've got Neil who's glad to take over that responsibility, aiming his sights on a full cheerleader troupe.

OK, So now that you've seen the crew.
meet the skipper!
Neil Whichelow

Race-chick spotting apart, Neil is a slick hand at controlling the bitch (our spinnaker). Only for him, she'll slide into a gybe with just a whisper of slinky nylon and no snarls or twists. Neil likes broaching and always wants more. More weather; more wind; more drama. He likes it rough.

Andy Taylor

Andy is TeamJackal's tactician, when he manages an appearance in between flying around the world on business. That means he's incredibly bossy, thinks he's right all the time, and is actually right quite a lot. When asked about sailing Andy replies, with usual candour, that he's learning quite a lot and took pride in tying his first bowline a couple of months ago. His ambition is to feel the wind through his hair, lose his six-pack and gain a little weight. Press-ganged into the Jackal Team, Andy likes sea shanties, darts and bright nylon spray jackets.
Bob Seward

Bob might look like a grizzled old salt, but he still wears his cap backwards at times. He spends most of his race time peering up to the jib, getting his skipper 'in the groove' and trying hard to keep him there. Often referred to as Colin, (though nobody's too sure why) Bob is completely unflappable, even in the chaotic moments of downwind wrap-ups and shrimp-trawling spinnaker take-downs. Arms flailing, he'll haul in the bitch with incredible speed averting near disasters on the water nearly every time. Bob's been sailing before, so we're told, and he certainly knows how to look up, squint his eyes and say "bear off". Due to this, he's got the admiration of the rest of the crew who look up to him as a father-figure, master mariner and jolly good sport. He's also made quite a difference to the overall image of the team. Now that we've got him dressed in shorts that are not all rips he's become quite a presentable TeamJackal member.
